Woolshed 'Renovation'

New Build, Old & New Building Material

Completed in the Waikato in 2019, this Precast Panel project was designed as a weekender for our clients - it's now where they choose to base themselves. This was the fourth project with the client's family group, resulting in a harmonious collaboration.

The weekender, while compact, offers spacious country living areas and a dedicated workshop garage. The design evokes the charm of an old rural building through Precast Panels with a creosote-aged weatherboard look, exposed recycled timber beams, doors, bricks, and traditional plumbing fixtures. Our clients were passionate about finding the right recycled elements, choosing timbers for sarking and feature cladding.

The open-plan living space is highlighted by a large concrete fireplace, and opens to a sheltered outdoor dining area doubling the entertainment space.

Nestled by a tree-line windbreak, the building is accessible via a concrete panel footbridge at the paddock's base. The Landscape Consultant’s brief for an 'aged' garden, features an old picket fence hosting a rambling rose.
