I love to share the joy of crochet, having returned to the craft a little over 5 years ago. It's relaxing, creative and very therapeutic.
I can now offer crochet lessons one-to-one or in small groups for Taupo residents or visitors - great for wet holidays. Contact me to arrange a time and date to suit (allow 2 - 3 hours for your first lesson) and for pricing.
I have a number of beginner friendly patterns and great resources that you can access to continue your journey.

Aroha Collections Taupo
As an extension of my work with MRA Limited providing specialist residential design I also take a design approach to completing a home, whether it's a new home, a current home or a 'next' home.
Aroha Collections is focused around curating personal decor to complement a home. Creating handmade crocheted Throws and Blankets provides a finishing touch to our client's projects.
I use colour and texture and modern design aesthetics to create unique pieces for loving and gifting. Client pieces are usually inspired by something I've learned about them during the design stages of their architectural project.
Crochet is 100% handmade. Handmade items cannot be made without love or "aroha". They are designed to show love, respect, and gratitude as well as hope and comfort to those that receive them.
Outside MRA Limited architectural projects my work is an extension of my love for taonga that stays within a family for generations. I specialise in creating throws (from car-seat size baby blankets to large throws for sofas & beds) featuring amazing patterns from Daisy Farm Crafts & other gifted designers - and then there are the ones that come straight out of my own head. I also offer hand-crafted items to wear or to include in your household or personal care.
I am heavily influenced in making pieces for the Aroha Collections by Lake Taupo, the mountains beyond, it's vibe and the people who have welcomed us to the Taupo community. I am proud to contribute items to Pregnancy Help in Taupo through the Wednesday morning knitting & crochet group with no name.
Decor with purpose. I hate waste so you'll also find cup cozies to bookmarks & Christmas decorations as I aim to use every last scrap of yarn.
I use a range of fibres to ensure that my blankets remain accessible for special gifting. Fibres are always shown on my labelling. I’m always happy to discuss your fibre preferences and provide estimates based on your choices. Please message me for further details.
Aroha Collections Taupo Studio is located inside our Claude Megson home where you can experience the full design experience, I open by appointment most days. I also exhibit at the local market when the weather is agreeable or you can purchase online at felt.co.nz/arohacrafts. If an item you are wanting is not listed online let me know and I'll create a listing for you.
